AKC is the registry that every one automatically thinks of
when they see a dog show or they buy a puppy.  AKC
is the registry that has been around since the 1880s.  AKC
has standards and DNA regulations that have to be met.
AKC, without prior notice, performs kennel conditions,
paperwork, and DNA inspections.  If the DNA, paperwork,
kennel cleanness, and health of the dogs, are not to
standards your AKC privileges are suspended until the
problem areas are resolved. After the given time is up and
the standards are not met you loose your AKC privileges.
AKC verifies its breeders honesty.
CKC was formed in the 1980 after AKC started
checking paper work and DNA.  CKC relies only on the
honesty of the breeders using their registry.  CKC accepts
and will register a puppy with a registration number. CKC
will assign registry number, then it would be CKC
registered.
What I don't like is that you can send in a picture of a
dog to CKC, have 2 people say it is a Poodle, you will get a
CKC registration certificate and number indicating a pure
bred Poodle.  You can take a Maltese and a Poodle and
breed them.  In this litter you could have puppies that look
like the Poodle, some the Maltese,  and some a mixture.
What happens when the puppy that looks like a Poodle,
has its' picture sent in along with the signatures, and they
get CKC papers which indicates a pure bred Poodle?  That
dog can now be breed as a Poodle, what will the puppies
be?  What if the person that get a puppy registered as a
Poodle, and in 9 mounts it looks nothing like a Poodle?
This has happened many times.
AKC requires litter registration costing $25.00 for the
litter and $2.00 for each puppy. CKC does not charge
breeders for registering litters or puppies. This is one of the
reasons breeders like CKC.  Breeders have had cost
increases, for feed, medication, transportation and
registration but this is not a good answer.  I think it cuts

CKC does no kennel checks.  From what I have seen the
have no breed standards, there is no in impordance put on
the lent age of the breeds.  The only reason I see for CKC
is to a registry puppies to be sold.
What is the difference between AKC and CKC
